FAQs

questions come up, here are the answers

To help you feel prepared and confident, here are the key things people often want to know.

how do i book a retreat?

You can find details for our upcoming retreats on Eventbrite via our ‘Retreats’ webpage. Bookings are made via Eventbrite and are confirmed when payment is made in full. All bookings are made on the understanding that you have read, understood and accepted the Wilding Out Terms & Conditions.

what’s included?

The retreat is a fully guided group walk with beautiful landscapes and homemade or locally sourced food and drink worth walking for – all planned so you can relax and just enjoy the experience.

what are the details for each retreat?

You will be sent details for the retreat you are booked on for detailing the meeting place, suitable parking places, meeting time, duration of the retreat and approximate distance covered. Every retreat will have at least one pitstop to enjoy some food worth walking for.

what’s the deal with the food worth walking for?

All food on Wilding Out retreats is homemade and freshly prepared, and occasionally sourced from trusted local suppliers. Depending on the event, you might enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, a snack or a sweet treat – and often a drink too, as outlined in the retreat details. Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking so we can cater for you wherever possible.

what happens if the weather is really bad?

Our retreats continue come rain or come shine. However, there are certain weather conditions that may mean we need to cancel or reschedule a retreat. In such cases, participants will be offered either a transfer to another date or a full refund. If a participant chooses not to attend due to weather conditions no refund will be issued.

what communication will i receive?

You’ll receive initial retreat details when you book, followed by a fuller information email one week before the event. The day before the retreat, we’ll send a reminder with the latest weather and final updates. If you’re unsure about anything at any point, you’re always welcome to get in touch.

what do i need to bring?

You’ll receive all the details you need before the retreat, but as a general rule of thumb, you need a rucksack packed with: a bottle of two of water, personal medication, extra layers and waterproofs. You may be asked to carry your food, so ensure there’s a bit of space for that. We do ask that you wear walking shoes or boots.

am i fit enough to join?

We walk at a conversational pace with regular pauses to enjoy the scenery, rest and refuel. If you can comfortably walk for a couple of hours with breaks, you’ll be absolutely fine. Each retreat explains the distance in advance so you can choose a walk that feels right for you.

what do you need to know about my health?

Participants must disclose any relevant medical conditions, disabilities, injuries, or additional support needs at the time of booking so that reasonable adjustments can be considered.

are the retreat leaders qualified?

All Wilding Out retreat leaders hold the Hill & Moorland Leader qualification and are trained in Outdoor First Aid.

can you do private group bookings?

Yes, Wilding Out offers private group bookings. To arrange a private booking, please get in touch via email or phone.

is there a minimum age?

All participants must be 18 years or over.

Consultant & Coach

I would highly recommend Wilding Out to any businesses or groups looking for an impactful team building or social activity. Roseann is an incredibly knowledgeable, calm and kind guide, who is able to adapt route and requirements to any individual or group needs. You should expect to come away feeling revived and inspired from time outdoors in beautiful countryside and from the meaningful conversations expertly prompted by Roseann.

Health Psychologist

I had such a great retreat with Wilding Out. Roseann is professional, organised and also lots of fun. The hike was great with plenty of pauses and time to chat with each other, which kept everything relaxed and enjoyable. The food was outstanding. As a health psychologist, I know how powerful it is to get out of your head and into your body and this retreat delivered exactly that. The added connection with others was a real bonus.

Pilates Instructor

As someone who loves walking and nature but gets lost easily, the retreats are ideal for me. And being fed delicious food as well, was a big added bonus. To this day, the stilton and broccoli soup is the best I’ve ever tasted! Zanny’s guiding and hosting is both informal and relaxed, yet assured and competent. In a world of overpriced sit-down dinners, I’d say it’s much better to get out for some fresh air, discover new walks and still get a full tum!

how can i stay updated about future retreats and news?

The best way is to subscribe to the Wilding Out newsletter, where I share upcoming dates, new routes, seasonal inspiration and the occasional behind-the-scenes update. You can sign up easily and unsubscribe anytime.
