questions come up, here are the answers
To help you feel prepared and confident, here are the key things people often want to know.
how do i book an outdoor experience?
You can find details for our upcoming experiences on Eventbrite via our website. Bookings are made via Eventbrite and are confirmed when payment is made in full. All bookings are made on the understanding that you have read, understood and accepted the Wilding Out Terms & Conditions. For Wild Workplace Retreats, please get in touch via phone or email.
what makes wilding out different?
Wilding Out is about more than just walking. Each experience is designed to bring together movement, nature, meaningful connection and thoughtfully shared food in beautiful outdoor settings. The aim isn’t simply to cover miles, but to create space to slow down, reconnect and return feeling clearer, calmer and more grounded.
are your experiences only for individuals?
No, Wilding Out offers both community and workplace experiences. Alongside public walks and gatherings, we also create outdoor experiences for workplaces and teams. Each experience is designed to support connections, creativity, wellbeing and perspective.
what kind of food and drink is included?
Food is a big part of the Wilding Out experience. Think thoughtfully shared food that feels nourishing. All food on Wilding Out retreats is homemade and freshly prepared, and occasionally sourced from trusted local suppliers. Depending on the event, you might enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, a snack or a sweet treat – and often a drink too, as outlined in the event details. Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking so we can cater for you wherever possible.
what happens if the weather is really bad?
Unless conditions are unsafe, experiences will usually still go ahead. Sometimes the most memorable moments happen in wild weather. That said, safety and enjoyment always come first. If severe weather means plans need to change or an event needs to be postponed, attendees will be contacted as early as possible. In such cases, those attending will be offered either a transfer or another date or a full refund. If a participant chooses not to attend due to weather conditions, no refund will be issued.
do i need any experience to join?
Not at all. Wilding Out is designed for people who want to spend time outdoors and enjoy meaningful experiences in nature, those people may or may not be ultra-marathon runners or seasoned hikers. Most experiences move at a steady, comfortable pace with plenty of opportunities to pause, chat, take in the landscape and enjoy thoughtfully shared food along the way. Some routes include hills, uneven ground, mud or stiles because we explore real countryside, but nothing is rushed or overly intense. Each event description will give an idea of distance, pace and terrain so you can decide what feels right for you.
what do i need to bring?
This will vary slightly depending on the experience and the season. You’ll receive all the details you need before the experience, but as a general rule of thumb, you need a rucksack packed with: a bottle or two of water, personal medication, extra layers and waterproofs. You may be asked to carry your food, so ensure there’s a bit of space for that. We do ask that you wear walking shoes or boots.
is wilding out about fitness?
Not really. Movement is an important part of the experience, but Wilding Out is much more about connection, perspective, simple pleasures and spending time outdoors than performance or physical challenges. You will need to feel comfortable walking the distance stated in the event details.
what do you need to know about my health?
Participants must disclose any relevant medical conditions, disabilities, injuries, or additional support needs at the time of booking so that reasonable adjustments can be considered. Upon booking, you will need to ensure you have read through and understood the terms and conditions and a waiver.
Are dogs allowed?
We know so many of you love your furry friends, but our micro retreats are just for humans, sorry.
are the outdoor experience leaders qualified?
All Wilding Out leaders hold the Hill & Moorland Leader qualification or Lowland Leader qualification and are trained in Outdoor First Aid.
can i come on my own?
Absolutely, many people do. Wilding Out experiences are designed to feel welcoming, relaxed and low-pressure, whether you arrive solo or with others. There’s no awkward team-building energy or pressure to be ‘outdoorsy’ enough. People often leave having connected with others naturally through walking, conversation, shared food and time spent outdoors together.
is there a minimum age?
All participants must be 18 years or over.

I would highly recommend Wilding Out to any businesses or groups looking for an impactful team building or social activity. Roseann is an incredibly knowledgeable, calm and kind guide, who is able to adapt route and requirements to any individual or group needs. You should expect to come away feeling revived and inspired from time outdoors in beautiful countryside and from the meaningful conversations expertly prompted by Roseann.

I had such a great experience with Wilding Out. Roseann is professional, organised and also lots of fun. The hike was great with plenty of pauses and time to chat with each other, which kept everything relaxed and enjoyable. The food was outstanding. As a health psychologist, I know how powerful it is to get out of your head and into your body and this event delivered exactly that. The added connection with others was a real bonus.

As someone who loves walking and nature but gets lost easily, the retreats are ideal for me. And being fed delicious food as well, was a big added bonus. To this day, the stilton and broccoli soup is the best I’ve ever tasted! Zanny’s guiding and hosting is both informal and relaxed, yet assured and competent. In a world of overpriced sit-down dinners, I’d say it’s much better to get out for some fresh air, discover new walks and still get a full tum!

how can i stay updated about future OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES?
The best way to stay updated is by joining the Wilding Out newsletter, where I share upcoming walks and outdoor experiences, new events, seasonal inspiration, and the occasional behind-the-scenes glimpse into what’s coming next. You can sign up easily and unsubscribe at any time.
